Château de Beynac is one of the most well preserved chateaux in the Périgord.

Once the home of Richard the Lion-heart, the Beynac Château during the 100’s year war it served as a French stronghold from the invasion by the English. It was during this time when the Crowns of France and England considered the Dordogne as the border between their two territories.  

The chateau faces the Château de Castelnaud which was owned and occupied at the time by the English.

On the heights of the beautiful village of Beynac, the fortress of Beynac invites you to walk through the huge gates to take a unique trip into the heart of the Middle ages.
