We fell in love with this great French cottage to rent and were so inspired by the people, the culture, the history that we decided to invest in our very own Perigordian cottage. Our Perigordian cottage was once an old Farmhouse typical in style with tall “sway” rooftops. It is called Les Chouettes – which in French means “The Owls”. One can often hear the owls in the early evening, or if you happen to look up to see one perched high on the roof.

We love our old farmhouse as it captures the old French charm. This is a perfect family holiday destination which can accommodate up to 8 guests in the four bedrooms: 3 double bedrooms and 1 bedroom with twin beds. There is so much to do in the area. You can hike or ride through the countryside (we have 8 bicycles for you to choose from on site) or simply soak up the afternoon sun with a good book and a glass of wine, Nearby are historical sites to explore, architecture, nature or adventure. French Cottages to rent give you the opportunity to either stay home and try your hand at cooking (our favourite is a meal with magret de cannard, or omlette with truffles- how decadent!!) Alternatively a delicous meal at Les Vieux Logis Tremolat Michelin star restaurant, the local Bistro en face Tremolat, Les Truffiers Tremolat or the Village pizzeria, the local cuisine is absolutely superb you really cannot go wrong.
What to do in the Dordogne region
The Acquitaine/Dordogne region offers beautiful patchwork scenery, spectacular caves, beautiful medieval towns, ancient castles, fine french and continental gastronomy, river canoeing, horse riding and art festivals.
When using local French Holiday Rentals you are able to rent the French Cottages to Rent for weekly periods at a time. Our farmhouse sleeps up to eight peopl – however there is a divan in the 2nd lounge which could be used as a bed too.
